Mined only in Lake District of England, United Kingdom, lakelandite is a blend of basalt and bytownite. Relatively rare and uncommon, this precious stone is commonly cut into beads, cabochons, and spheres, as well as carved into decorative objects such as skulls.

Uses & Applications

Lakelandite has good scarcity value since it is found in only one location in the Lake District of the United Kingdom. The green spots and markings on a black background give this stone subtle but undeniable aesthetic appeal, and it is sold as a tumbled stone or cut into various shapes for ornaments and jewelry.

Healing Properties

Supposed physical benefits of lakelandite include healing of the stomach, kidneys, and spleen, reproductive disorders, and skin conditions.
