Pentagonite specimen - rock identification

What is Pentagonite?

An extremely rare silicate mineral, Pentagonite was named after its unusual five-fold twinning, which produces pentagonal sections. Due to its interesting form and attractive deep blue color, pentagonite is highly sought by mineral collectors. It is mined in India, but it's also found in parts of Oregon, USA.

Uses & Applications

Pentagonite is an uncommon mineral that despite its great esthetic appeal as a complex blue crystal, has little to offer in terms of use. Pieces of the mineral are sold to mineralogists and occasionally sold as tumbled stones. Only rarely are good specimens of pentagonite used in necklaces or other jewelry. Some artists have reported using the mineral as a pigment.

Healing Properties

If you're looking to enhance your psychic abilities and intuition, pentagonite may work for you. The belief is that pentagonite connects to the crown and third eye chakras, opening up your consciousness and increasing channeling. It's also said to cast out negative thoughts while encouraging novel ideas and a state of inner calm.
